The Outbuiildings and Gardens form a special part of the Harbor Master's House and its setting. Spectacular riverfront borders the entire west side of the property and provides access to the private dock with two boat slips.
Waterfront & Dock - the property features over 200 feet of waterfront on the Patuxent River. The 80-foot +/- Pier leads to a 21 x 12 foot +/- Dock, with two side slips along the pier side as well as the opportunity to tie up to the outboard side of the dock. A riverside Deck half way down the bank provides a place to view sunsets or store kayaks. At the end of the dock there is about 10 feet of water at low tide, 12 feet at high tide.
The Three-Car Garage was built in 1980 and renovated in 2012, including being completely re-sided using historically accurate 9-inch wood clapboard custom-milled for the job. The garage provides generous storage in the three bays, plus a full second floor for storage, reached by a stair from inside the garage.
The Corn Crib is now the main garden shed, with space for multiple recycling bins, potting shed, garden tools, hoses, etc. The Back Shed provides additional storage. Both of these buildings have metal roofs.
The Gardens surround the house and provide four-season interest. Crape myrtles, roses, hydrangeas, boxwood, magnolias, lilac, and spirea are some of the perennial plantings that grace the site. Large shade trees provide comfort at the rear of the house.
The Brick Patio, Brick Walkways and Stone Steps were designed to frame the house, and in the case of the front walkways, were laid in the same pattern as older bricks found during excavation for the footings of the current walkway.
